Two Weeks Already....
Our little sweet Asher is two weeks old today. It's amazing how much life can change in just 14 days. This kid has completely stolen our hearts and we are head over heels in love.
Steve goes back to work tomorrow. I'm not sure who's more upset....me or him. He is so sad to have to be separated from our boy all day long and it's so cute. He has been such an amazing help to me as I've been in recovery. Not once have I done a load of laundry or any cooking. Speaking of cooking....we have been so blessed by all of the amazing people that have brought us meals. Seriously, it's been the biggest help ever as the thought of putting together a meal in our exhausted state seems like pretty much the most impossible task ever. We have been so amazed by all of the friends that have gone out of their way to support and welcome our little man into the world.
Asher is doing well. He's really such a sweet little baby and is overall pretty much happy all of the time. We love it! We've had a few fun experiences in the last week and a half. We gave Asher his first bath, during which he pooped 3 times and peed once. Needless to say, the bath took a little bit longer than expected.
In this last week Asher has started to make eye contact with us. It's so sweet and special. He also makes some pretty great faces.
I stopped by my office to pick up my paycheck this week and ended up not being able to leave for 2 hours. All of my residents were so excited to meet Asher and as soon as I walked into the building the phone chain started as they all called each other to spread the word that the baby was in the building, It was so sweet to see them all get so excited!

Steve and I are doing well. We're pretty much exhausted, but that's to be expected. Strangely, our bodies seem to be adjusting. We'll see if I still say this after reality sets in this week and I'm on my own while Steve's at work. It should be a busy week. Between Asher and myself we have at least one doctors appointment every day. I am healing up nicely and have been slowly weaning off of my pain meds so that I'm able to drive again. Tomorrow I'll go to get my incision checked out and feeling confident that everything will look good. As tiring as the last few weeks have been, I've really felt God's grace in my recovery. It's been painful and tiring at times, but every day I'm starting to feel a little bit better. We've been taking walks every day, and although I still am not getting around like I used to I know it's only a matter of time.

For now though, all I want to do is soak up every minute that I have with our sweet boy and treasure every single moment that we have together. I can already see how much he's grown and changed in just 2 weeks, and I know that before we know he'll be growing like a weed. I want to get all of my snuggles in now while he'll let me. I never really get sick of holding him and looking into his sweet eyes. I never ever could have imagined that I could feel this much love in my heart for this little man that I've known just a mere two weeks, but Steve and I are both in agreement that our lives will never ever be the same now that this precious little guy has come along and completely stolen our hearts.

It makes me tear up reading about your instant love for your little man...isn't it the best thing ever? Certainly makes the sleeplessness and the recovery so much easier to deal with:)

Can't get over how adorable Asher is!

I have a friend who takes pictures in your area. We've used her many times, even after we moved back to STL. Whenever we visit Madison I try to schedule time with her - she's that good and her rates are so reasonable! Here's her site:

Hope things are still well and that you're managing to get some rest!

Thanks Charisa!
We have a friend that does photography that was going to take pictures of Asher, but she's been so busy lately that I'm not sure when we're going to be able to get them done, so I may just give your friend a call!

I love the pictures on her website and you're right...her rates are so reasonable! Thanks so much for the info!
