BOY!
Just like I thought we have a little guy growing in there. As the ultrasound tech put it...."You definitely have a boy, he's very anxious to show of his penis." Steve and I got a good laugh about that.
Not only is he all boy, but he's all movement. He was moving around so much that 30 minutes into the ultrasound the tech had me get up, go to the bathroom, walk the halls for a good 10 minutes and then lay on my side for awhile before she could continue. The little guy was laying with his head on my left side and squirming up a storm, but wouldn't change positions.
After awhile one of the specialist's came in to see what they could and identify any genetic markers for downs syndrome. The good news is that there are 4 or 5 markers that they look for and for the most part our guy was looking good, having only one marker of concern in his femur. The bad news is that the specialist was somewhat vague with us when she asked us to come back for another ultrasound in 2 weeks and then another one four weeks after that to monitor some areas of growth.
We're still not quite sure about what all of that was about, but we know that part of the the coming back in the 2 weeks was to get some better pictures of the heart since our guy was so stubborn yesterday that they couldn't quite see everything that they wanted to.
After that we met with a genetic counselor who basically informed us that we just won't know for sure one way or another if the baby's has downs unless we do a more invasive test. So, I was a little disappointed because I've been waiting for this appointment for what seems like forever in hopes that we would finally get some answers, but we really know just about as much as we did 2 months ago when we first got the news of the possibilities.
That being said, we are so excited that we have what seems to be a healthy growing baby boy in there. We may not know the answers to all of our questions until June, but we are thankful that our little guy is growing and moving. We already have so much love in our hearts for this little boy, and nothing in the world could change that. We are so excited to meet him and continuously in awe of how good God has been to us to answers our prayers by bringing us this child that we've wanted for so long.

A boy!!! How exciting:) As a mother of all boys I can tell you that you are in for an amazing treat. Hoping that all else continues to go smoothly.
soo happy for you guys!!
What great news to hear! Will you guys keep the name a secret until he's here?
I'm not sure what we'll do. We haven't even started thinking of names yet, so I guess once we choose one we'll go from there. We're not very secretive people, so I doubt we'll decide to keep it a surprise.
