When I was still pregnant I had several friends recommend that I read "The Happiest Baby on the Block". This book was very helpful. Honestly, I don't think I ever finished it, but I got the most important part of the book - The five "S's". You can just google "the five s's" and get tons of links explaining what it is.
One of them though is shushing your baby. That's right, making a "shush" sound in their ear. We've found that Asher really likes this when he's upset. A lot of times this is the only thing that will really calm him down.
Sometimes it can get tiring though, so the other day I had the brilliant idea to record myself onto my phone while I was shushing Asher. Best thing I could have ever done! Now when he's upset I just pull out my phone and play the recording and it works like a charm! It also provides some comic relief, because when I was originally recording myself we were in the car with my dad and you can kind of hear the discussion that was going on between my dad and steve in the background. It goes something like this.
Steve: To your left is "visions". It's a strip club
Dad: Oh really
Steve: Yep, I've driven by it hundreds of times and never knew it was a strip club until one day Jenny told me. One of the girls Jenny used to work with actually quit her job caring for the elderly to go dance there.
Dad: Wow, that's quite a career change.

That is a good idea! Nice work coming up with that!
So funny about the commentary behind that. Wouldn't it be funny if Visions is Asher's first word?!?
Is Visions still next to the Gyro place? Dimitri's or something like that? I always wanted to try it but never got around to it.
Shushing has always worked wonders for our babies as well. Love the idea of recording it!!
Nice......I really like the conversation in the background
Oh my gosh, It would be soooo funny if visions was his first word. Especially because going to visions is always the running joke around this house!
Yep, it's right next door to the gyro place. I've never been there, but heard it's really good!
