I've been a blog avoider. Life has just been busy and I haven't been motivated. I may keep this up for awhile.
Here's what's been happening in our neck of the woods lately.
Finally got our new windows installed last week. It happened to be a very cold day, so the contractors were trying to work quick. Unfortunately, because of that, they didn't follow all of the laws regarding dealing with lead based paint. We are so not happy about this. We've spent the entire week getting our house in order out of paranoia. Every piece of bedding and every curtain is washed. All of the furniture and heating vents have been vacuumed at least twice, and of course the rest of the house has been deep cleaned as well. Really, I'm sure it's not that big of a deal because its not likely that a lot of lead dust got in (we're not even sure that our house had any lead based paint used in it anyway, although it was built in 66), but with having a baby in the house we wanted to make sure we did everything to protect him. What a hassle though!
We also bought a chest freezer. I truly don't know why we waited to long to do this. I'm so over being connected to the stupid breast pump every day. I'm spending between 2 and 3 hours a day hooked up to that thing when you add it all up. I've been happy to help with donating milk to the NICU babies, but I'm done. I wanna save up as much milk as possible in the chest freezer so I can be done with the stupid pump. I'm about to go crazy here. Hopefully it doesn't take long to build up my stash. I haven't had much extra milk since my surgery.
We have new neighbors, and they seem really nice! We had a snow day yesterday so while Steve was clearing off the driveway, I made up a big batch of sugar cookies and frosted them and took them over. We talked for a good 15 minutes. They are new parents as well with a little 4 month old boy. I love that our neighborhood is filling up with lots of little babies!
We went to a holiday dinner party last night and our friends house that is normally a 15 minute drive away took us 45 minutes thanks to all the snow. We had to take back roads in the country and they were so horrible. We had a great time though and it was good to get out of the house after feeling like hermits most of the weekend.
Such a boring update on our lives, I know. We have pretty much become boring people ever since we had a baby. Nevertheless, that's what's been going on in our neck of the woods.
